”He’s a 100% professional. That’s what I see every day. He wants to compete, to improve… he always wants to improve. My team helps him a lot. We think about the team, about who’s playing best in each match,” he said.
“The important thing is the team, and they have to understand that sometimes they need to be on the bench. That’s what’s important to win titles. The atmosphere is incredible, and I appreciate it every day. It’s not normal. I’m happy.”
Flick was also thrilled to see Jesus step up on his first start and score Barca’s second of the night.
”Everyone has to be involved in both attack and defense. We start matches from the back. The forwards also contribute defensively,” he added.
“Everyone is part of the team and connected, and that’s important. He’s a great footballer. He’s different from Rapha, but goalscoring is his strong point; he knows exactly which corner to shoot at. I’m very happy with him.”
And Flick also spoke about Yamal and his game time after starting the teenager again on Saturday night.
“He wanted to give it his all. I asked him if he wanted me to substitute him and he said no. He loves to play,” he explained.
“We have to manage his workload, but the first half was easier for him, and in the second half he created more chances. I’m happy with his attitude. He’s recovering well, he’s doing his treatments.”
Barcelona now switch focus to Europe and a clash with Galatasaray in the Champions League on Tuesday.
