Guy Ritchie's Young Sherlock will return for a second season on Prime Video with several new stars joining the cast. Meanwhile, fans can also say goodbye to one Season 1 star who's now confirmed to be absent in Season 2.
Deadline reports that new series regulars for Young Sherlock Season 2 include Olivia Williams (Dune: Prophecy), Sophie Skelton (Outlander), Indira Varma (The Night Manager), and Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones). The group will be joining Hero Fiennes Tiffin, who returns as Sherlock Holmes. Other returning actors include Dónal Finn as James Moriarty, Natascha McElhone as Cordelia, Max Irons as Mycroft, and Holly Cattle as Beatrice.
Zine Tseng Will Not Appear in Young Sherlock Season 2

The first season also featured Zine Tseng as Xiao Wei/Princess Gulun Shou-an, the female lead. Tseng had teased that she could return in Young Sherlock Season 2 in interviews following the finale. However, it's now been confirmed that Tseng will not be appearing in Season 2 after all. It's not entirely unexpected, as her story arc appeared to conclude by the end of Season 1, but the teasing had sparked speculation that she would be returning.
Joseph Fiennes will also not be reprising his role as Silas Holmes in Season 2. The character was presumed dead after jumping off a cliff at the end of the first season. Numan Acar will also not be returning as Esad Kasgarli, Silas' fixer. Colin Firth is another actor who is out of the series following the death of his character, Bucephalus Hodge, earlier in Season 1.

Young Sherlock, which chronicles the early days of Sherlock Holmes, was a major hit upon arrival for Prime Video. Season 1 managed to reach 45 million viewers in less than a month, going on to become one of the top 10 Prime Original seasons ever released. Reviews were largely positive, giving the first season an approval rating of 84% on Rotten Tomatoes.

We can’t wait to see where they take him next in Season 2.”

Guy Ritchie is serving as an executive producer, and is directing the first episode of Season 2. The show was created by showrunner Matthew Parkhill, who also executive produces with Marc Resteghini, Dhana Rivera Gilbert, Simon Maxwell, Ivan Atkinson, Simon Kelton, Colin Wilson, and Harriet Creelman. Co-exec producers include Steve Thompson and James Dormer.
