A 33-year-old driver who chased and rammed into a woman biker on Golf Course Road in Gurugram was arrested by the police Tuesday (September 15, 2026), two days after the incident.
The police added attempt-to-murder charge to the case after analysing CCTV footage of the incident.
The woman biker, who identifies herself as Sia on social media, had alleged that the car followed her before hitting her motorcycle on Golf Course Road and fleeing the spot.
Mr. Bainsla had denied deliberately hitting the biker and claimed that the collision was accidental.
According to the police, Mr. Bainsla attempted to escape after being apprehended, using a request to urinate as a pretext.

The accused, Kalyan Bainsla, a resident of Chandhat in Haryana’s Palwal district, was arrested by the Crime Branch, Sohna, from Rajasthan, Gurugram ACP Abhilaksh Joshi told The Hindu.
The police said three teams had been formed to trace Mr. Bainsla after he switched off his mobile phone and fled after giving interviews to the media about the case. He was apprehended between Dausa and Rajgarh in Rajasthan on Tuesday (September 15).
The case was registered at Sector 56 police station on September 14 after a video of the incident, which took place on the morning of September 13, was posted on social media and came to the notice of the Gurugram police. As the woman had not initially filed a complaint, the police took suo motu cognisance and registered a case under relevant sections, the police said.
During the investigation, the police analysed CCTV footage from the area and added Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), pertaining to attempt to murder. The police also recorded the woman’s statement, following which Sections 78 (stalking) and 79 (insulting a woman’s modesty) of the BNS were added to the case.
The woman biker, who identifies herself as Sia on social media, had alleged that the car followed her before hitting her motorcycle on Golf Course Road and fleeing the spot. The collision threw her off the motorcycle and she suffered injuries to her knees.
Mr. Bainsla had denied deliberately hitting the biker and claimed that the collision was accidental. He had also denied fleeing the scene.
According to the police, Mr. Bainsla attempted to escape after being apprehended, using a request to urinate as a pretext. He sustained injuries after falling while trying to flee and was provided primary treatment at a hospital.
The car used in the incident has also been recovered from Mr. Bainsla’s possession. Police said the vehicle is registered in the name of his friend.
Further investigation into the case is under way.
