A guest was promptly blacklisted for life from Taj Agra after slapping a waiter at the five-star over a service-related misunderstanding. The hotel management said it acted as soon as it found out about the episode while noting that the employee in question had kept quiet about it in order to protect what for him is his dream job.
In a livid LinkedIn post, Paritosh Ladhani, Joint Managing Director of SLMG Beverages Pvt Ltd and Sincere Developers, which manages the property, said that the incident had left him furious and spoke about how the waiter staying mum had left him heartbroken.

The waiter, identified as Kanti, was serving a guest at the hotel’s restaurant when a communication gap led to a misunderstanding. As per Paritosh’s account, Kanti’s limited proficiency in English contributed to the confusion. The guest allegedly responded by slapping him.
“I blacklisted 1 guest from our Taj Agra property for life because of this horrible thing they did with our waiter!!” Paritosh wrote, making his decision clear at the outset of the post.
What troubled him further was that Kanti did not report the incident himself. When asked why he had remained silent, the waiter explained that he came from a poor farming family in a village near Agra and considered working at the hotel his dream.
“I didn’t want to do anything that could risk/ruin it!” Kanti told him, as recounted in the post.
For Paritosh, the response put the employee’s vulnerability into perspective. A job he had worked hard to secure meant so much to him that he feared speaking up against alleged mistreatment could jeopardise his future.
Paritosh said he was furious when he learnt what had happened and decided to ban the guest from the property the following day. He added that the guest remained blacklisted.
Emphasising that a customer’s influence or spending power should not determine how employees are treated, he wrote, “ABSOLUTELY NO ONE has the right to disrespect someone from my team. Let alone physically abuse them!!”
He also used the incident to underline the responsibility employers have towards their staff, particularly when employees feel too vulnerable to defend themselves.
“If our employees are afraid to stand up for their dignity, it's OUR responsibility to stand up for them!” he wrote.

For many readers, the hotel's response was a reminder that protecting employees' dignity must matter as much as keeping guests satisfied.
