Actor Shruti Haasan has revealed that she once came very close to getting married, while questioning the necessity of formal legal contracts and extravagant wedding expenditure. Opening up about her views on personal relationships, the actor stressed that she prioritises daily mutual companionship over societal benchmarks and grand public ceremonies.
Speaking on actor Soha Ali Khan’s podcast, Haasan explained her relationship philosophy, noting that while she is "very traditional in some things," she remains sceptical of formal legal contracts. "I enjoy that my partner and I pick each other every day, but not because of the paperwork," she said, adding that nearing marriage in the past "didn't really scare" her.
Addressing the high budgets of modern celebrations, she questioned who such displays are truly aimed at: "Who are we doing this for? No shaming the big spenders, but that always bothers me. Give it to charity!"
Opening up about her views on family, Haasan expressed a clear desire to embrace motherhood on her own terms, free from rigid social expectations. "I would really love to just be a mum," she shared, stating that she is open to adoption while also wanting to experience biological motherhood "as an extension of myself in some biological way."
Meanwhile, Haasan was last seen in actor Rajinikanth's 2025 release Coolie. The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial also fearured actors Nagarjuna, Upendra and Satyaraj in key roles. Actor Aamir Khan also had a cameo appaerance in the action-thriller. Her upcoming line-up includes Train, co-starring Vijay Sethupathi, and Aakasamlo Oka Tara, opposite actor Dulquer Salmaan.
The actor-singer has also lent her voice to a track in director SS Rajamouli’s upcoming action adventure Varanasi, featuring actors Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra, and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
