A reported listing from China’s 3C regulatory authority suggests that the Galaxy S27 Ultra could pack a 5,700mAh battery. If accurate, this would be the first time Samsung has moved beyond the 5,000mAh battery capacity used in its Ultra-series flagships.
The reported capacity represents a 14% increase over the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s 5,000mAh battery.
For users who regularly push their smartphones through long workdays, travel or heavy usage, that extra capacity could be a welcome change. However, a larger battery does not automatically guarantee longer screen time. Processor efficiency, display power consumption and software optimisation will also play a role in determining the phone’s actual battery life.
Still, the reported upgrade suggests Samsung could be moving away from its traditionally conservative approach to battery capacity.

Samsung’s battery strategy has looked increasingly cautious as Chinese smartphone manufacturers have adopted silicon-carbon technology to fit higher-capacity batteries into their devices.

The company has also remained careful about battery design following the Galaxy Note 7 recalls. Investigations traced the incidents to design and manufacturing problems involving batteries supplied by two manufacturers, rather than battery capacity alone.
Against this backdrop, a potential jump to 5,700mAh would be a notable change for Samsung’s Ultra lineup. However, the leak does not confirm whether the Galaxy S27 Ultra will use a different battery chemistry or how the company plans to accommodate the larger cell.
Galaxy S27 Pro Could Also Get a Battery Upgrade
The reported 3C listing also points to a 5,200mAh battery for the Galaxy S27 Pro.
The model is expected to be a more compact alternative to the Galaxy S27 Ultra, but without S Pen support. If the reported specifications are accurate, Samsung could be preparing a clearer distinction between its Pro and Ultra models.
Tipster Anthony, known as @TheGalox_ on X, has also reportedly reiterated the battery details and suggested that both the Galaxy S27 Ultra and Galaxy S27 Pro will feature Samsung’s upcoming M16 display technology.
The M16 panel is rumoured to offer peak brightness of up to 10,000 nits, compared with the reported 6,000-nit peak brightness of the M14 display.
These display specifications remain unconfirmed, and peak brightness figures alone do not determine how a screen will perform in everyday conditions.
The S Pen Could Be Samsung’s Secret Weapon Against the iPhone 18 Pro Max
While a larger battery could address a long-standing expectation among Galaxy users, Samsung’s S Pen remains one of the Ultra series’ most distinctive features.
In a PhoneArena reader poll asking about the main reason to upgrade to the Galaxy S27 Ultra, around 27% of respondents selected the S Pen. Speed received a little over 28% of the votes, while nearly 25% chose the display. Android attracted around 20%.
The results suggest that the S Pen continues to hold considerable appeal among potential buyers, even as performance and display technology remain important considerations.
Unlike faster processors or brighter screens, which are features shared across flagship smartphones, the S Pen gives Samsung a more distinctive selling point against the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
Samsung could build on that advantage by introducing more useful stylus features while improving battery life. A phone that combines longer endurance with a more capable S Pen experience could appeal to users who want more than just incremental hardware improvements.
When Will Samsung Launch the Galaxy S27 Ultra?
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S27 series at an Unpacked event in January or February 2027. The new smartphones could reach the market in February or March.
The lineup is expected to include the Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27+ and Galaxy S27 Ultra.
For now, the reported 5,700mAh battery, M16 display and other hardware details remain unconfirmed. Samsung has not officially announced the Galaxy S27 Ultra.
