Samsung’s latest toy, the Galaxy S26 FE, was officially announced late last month. And even before the device hit the market, the company released a software update for it. The update initially rolled out in Korea and is now making its way to global markets.

The Galaxy S26 FE has started receiving its first update in several countries, including India, Europe, Turkey, and the United States. The update carries the August 2026 security patch and has a build number ending in AZHD. It comes in an installation package of around 400MB, although the file size may vary depending on the region.

Interestingly, the Galaxy S26 FE is yet to go on sale in several markets, including India, where sales begin on September 18. So, before the phone lands in the hands of users, Samsung is giving it an early update. This means if you’re planning to get the new Fan Edition (FE) phone, there’s a good chance this update will be waiting for you right out of the box.

Don’t expect any major changes with this release, though. The Galaxy S26 FE already ships with Samsung’s latest software, Android 17-based One UI 9. Not only that, the phone packs several useful Galaxy AI features, including Horizontal Lock, My Fan Cam, and Now Nudge. This update will fix initial software glitches and security issues and improve overall stability.

The August 2026 Security Maintenance Release (SMR) addresses more than 50 security issues identified by Samsung, Google, and their partner companies. Therefore, installing the update is recommended to keep the device protected against the latest security threats. If you already have the Galaxy S26 FE or plan to pick one up in the future, you can check for the update by heading to Settings > Software update > Download and install.
