G7 Summit 2026 Live Updates: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney held a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in Evian, France. During the meeting, the two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the India-Canada strategic partnership and reviewed progress in bilateral economic cooperation. The discussions also covered developments in commercial arrangements related to LNG, PG. and metallurgical coal.

Modi-Trump meet: Prime Minister Narendra Modi met US President Donald Trump on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Evian-les-Bains in eastern France. This was the first meeting between the two leaders in over a year after a slide in bilateral ties. Last week, New Delhi and Washington had faced off over American missile strikes on commercial ships in the Gulf region that killed three Indian seafarers.

(Reuters) Jun 16, 2026 07:32 PM IST Trump and Modi meet after US launched missile strikes on commercial ships carrying Indian seafarers The meet comes days after India and the US faced off over American missile strikes on commercial ships in the Gulf region that killed three Indian sailors. Three Indian sailors were killed off the coast of Oman following a US naval attack on the Palau-flagged oil tanker MT Settebello. The US military said it launched the attack after the vessel allegedly ignored repeated warnings. Following the incident, India summoned the US Charge d'Affaires (CDA) and lodged a formal protest over what it described as the continued targeting of commercial vessels carrying Indian mariners in the Gulf of Oman by the US military. The attack on Mt Settebello was the second such incident involving a vessel with Indian crew members in recent weeks. Before the strike on Mt Settebello, the Guinea-Bissau-flagged tanker Mt Jalveer was also hit in a US military attack.
