Base variant revealed

The Tata Sierra EV’s Pure base variant will be offered with the automaker’s 65kWh battery pack. Our dealer sources have confirmed the same and this also means the QWD/AWD variants will be offered with the Harrier EV’s 75kWh battery pack.

Battery capacity detailed

In the Harrier EV, the 65kWh battery pack offers a claimed range of MIDC certified range of 538kms and is mated to an RWD motor producing 238bhp and 315Nm. The range and motor output are expected to go unchanged for the Sierra EV. The 75kWh battery pack for QWD/AWD powertrain offers a claimed MIDC range of up to 622kms with the front motor producing 155.8bhp and the rear motor producing 234.7bhp. The cumulative torque stands at 504Nm, one of the highest in its class. Like the Harrier EV, we expect Tata to offer the Sierra EV with both the 3.3kW charger and the more powerful 7.2kW AC fast charger.

Sierra EV launch in India

The Tata Sierra EV is Tata’s eighth EV for India and is a much-anticipated one, considering the performance of the ICE Sierra range that was launched last year. It has been showcased across three brand evolutions over the last six years and is finally hitting the market on 30 June. It is expected to get the same features and dimensions as the ICE Sierra. It is expected to be priced in the range of Rs. 20 lakh to Rs. 25 lakh and will take on cars like the Maruti e-Vitara, Toyota Ebella, Hyundai Creta Electric, Mahindra XEV 9e, Mahindra BE6 and its own sibling, the Tata Curvv EV.
