EXCLUSIVE: Ranveer Singh to shoot for Jai Mehta’s Pralay in Australia; On floors in September

The pre-production is currently underway in full swing in Australia, as director Jai Mehta and his team gear up for the zombie thriller. The source further added that Ranveer, Jai Mehta, and the core writing team have been in constant discussion, shaping the film almost every day. Ranveer Singh has put his faith in the strength of the script, choosing to back debutant filmmaker Jai Mehta and his vision for Pralay. The zombie thriller revolves around a married couple fighting for survival in a dystopian Mumbai.

Set in a post-apocalyptic world, the film has been envisioned as a large-scale survival drama, and now, we have another exciting update on the much-awaited project.

Pinkvilla has exclusively learnt that after Dhurandhar's success, Singh's Pralay is all set to go on floors in September 2026, with major shoot planned in Australia. According to sources close, Ranveer has already begun preparations for the film and is totally in the world-building process. "Ranveer will start shooting for the Jai Mehta directorial in the second half of 2026. The shoot is planned in Australia, and he has already kick-started prep. This is a film that requires intense physical and emotional preparation, given the scale and genre," revealed a source.

A large chunk of Pralay will be shot in Australia, with the film being mounted under the supervision of technicians who have previously worked on several international projects. The pre-production is currently underway in full swing in Australia, as director Jai Mehta and his team gear up for the zombie thriller.

The source further added that Ranveer, Jai Mehta, and the core writing team have been in constant discussion, shaping the film almost every day. "Pralay will rely heavily on VFX. Jai and his team are actively working on the screenplay, visual detailing, and the larger zombie universe. Ranveer too has been involved in creative discussions on a day-to-day basis."

Mounted on an estimated budget of Rs 300 crore, Pralay is said to be the most expensive standalone film of Ranveer Singh's career so far, making it one of the biggest bets in the genre space. Ranveer Singh has put his faith in the strength of the script, choosing to back debutant filmmaker Jai Mehta and his vision for Pralay.

While there has been no official announcement yet, Kalyani Priyadarshan is the female lead, marking her Bollywood debut. The zombie thriller revolves around a married couple fighting for survival in a dystopian Mumbai.
