What was supposed to be a crucial three-hour examination turned chaotic for NEET-PG 2026 aspirants at a test centre in Jaipur’s Sitapura area on Sunday, as repeated power and technical glitches disrupted the computer-based exam.
Candidates alleged that electricity supply at the centre failed at regular intervals, with some claiming the disruption occurred every 10 to 15 minutes. The glitches reportedly affected login, access to questions and the ability to continue the examination.

The disruption triggered anger among candidates, who later gathered outside the centre and protested, demanding justice.

Dr Gaurav, a candidate who appeared for the examination, described the situation as chaotic.
“In two hours, the exam began 10 times and ended 10 times. There is no authority to answer why it was happening,” he said.
The examination was scheduled from 9 am to 12 noon. However, repeated interruptions left candidates struggling to complete the test normally.
According to ACP Lalit Sharma, authorities were informed that the server at the centre was not functioning properly. He said some candidates’ computers opened while others did not, resulting in disruption to the examination.
CANDIDATES FLAG LACK OF BASIC FACILITIES
Candidates also raised concerns about the facilities at the examination centre.
They alleged that there was inadequate cooling inside the examination hall, with no proper air-conditioning, fans or coolers. Drinking-water arrangements were also reportedly inadequate.
For candidates who had spent months and years preparing for one of the most important examinations of their careers, the disruption added to their distress.

They demanded that their grievances be addressed. Parents accompanying the candidates were also seen distressed, with some visibly emotional as years of preparation appeared to be at risk.
Candidates also raised concerns about the possible impact of the disruption on their ranks. They argued that even a single mark can significantly affect a candidate’s rank and, consequently, their choice of medical speciality and college.
NBEMS ANNOUNCES RE-EXAMINATION
The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) later announced a re-examination for affected candidates.
The re-examination will be held on September 5 for candidates affected by power-cut issues at test centres 41,682 and 41,683 at iON Digital Zone iDZ, Sitapura.
NBEMS said the examination could not be completed due to “internal power supply issues at the centres” and apologised to the affected candidates.

While the re-examination provides another opportunity to affected candidates, students are demanding more.
They argue that conducting the examination again only for selected candidates could create an uneven playing field, given the importance of even a single mark in determining ranks, medical specialities and colleges.
For the aspirants, the demand is for a fair opportunity, a transparent investigation and justice.
What was meant to be a test of their preparation has now become a test of the examination system itself.
