Voting for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections 2026 is underway today, September 18, amid heightened security and strict restrictions following concerns over violence and hooliganism during campaigning.
The Court has directed all parties to file their responses within two weeks in the matter concerning violence, hooliganism and violations during the DUSU elections.
The election has full panels from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), while the All India Students’ Association (AISA) and Students’ Federation of India (SFI) are contesting together.
For vice-president, the candidates include Ishu Maurya (ABVP), Vir Chatrath (NSUI), Akshat Shikhar (AISA-SFI), Aranya Singh Rathore and Deepanshu Shokeen.

Voting for the Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) elections 2026 is underway today, September 18, amid heightened security and strict restrictions following concerns over violence and hooliganism during campaigning. The Delhi High Court has now barred victory processions and the use of drums and other celebratory displays after the results, while also questioning police over large cavalcades and vehicles without number plates seen during the campaign. The Court has directed all parties to file their responses within two weeks in the matter concerning violence, hooliganism and violations during the DUSU elections. The court has fixed November 6 as the next date of hearing.
A total of 20 candidates contesting the four central posts — president, vice-president, secretary and joint secretary. Counting of votes and declaration of results are scheduled for September 19.
The election has full panels from the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), while the All India Students’ Association (AISA) and Students’ Federation of India (SFI) are contesting together.
For the president’s post, ABVP has fielded Yash Dabas, while NSUI has nominated Vijay Shankar Meena. AISA-SFI’s presidential candidate is Ananya Raturi. The other presidential candidates are Ashmit Pawar, Ejaz Mansuri, Samarth Beniwal and Sameer Kumar.

The secretary’s contest features Riya Chhawadi (ABVP), Namrata Choudhary (NSUI), Stanzin Deskyong (AISA-SFI) and Pankaj Kumar.
For joint secretary, Lakshya Raj Singh (ABVP), Gopal Choudhary (NSUI), B Parijaat (AISA-SFI) and Vishesh Yadav are in the fray.
Voting for day-college students is being scheduled from 8:30 am to 1 pm, while evening students will be able to cast their votes between 3 pm and 7:30 pm.
