North Zone completed a 52-run win over West Zone early on the fourth morning of the second Duleep Trophy quarter-final at the Centre of Excellence Ground 1 in Bengaluru.
North Zone did not have to wait long for a breakthrough with Abid Mushtaq bowling Kotian in the second over of the day.
Earlier in the game, Anshul Kamboj’s (60) lower-order surge helped North Zone post 251 with Ayush Badoni (51) and Ayush Doseja (42) also making useful contributions.
A five-wicket haul from Mushtaq then helped North Zone secure a 64-run first-innings lead.
Contributions from Abdul Samad (30) and Sindhu (44) meant that North Zone were bowled out for 222, setting their opponents a target of 287.

Resuming the day on 220/7 and needing 67 runs to win, West Zone still had hope with Urvil Patel and Tanush Kotian at the crease but the resistance lasted just under seven overs before North Zone wrapped up the win.
North Zone did not have to wait long for a breakthrough with Abid Mushtaq bowling Kotian in the second over of the day. Mushtaq then returned to dismiss Tushar Deshpande before Nishant Sindhu trapped Urvil LBW in the following over to seal the win.

He began by bowling Prithvi Shaw early in the innings before claiming Deshpande, the last man out, as his fifth victim. Musheer Khan’s (31) patient vigil and a fifty from Shams Mulani were the notable highlights of West Zone’s innings.
Badoni then returned to score consecutive fifties while Kotian picked up another four-wicket haul alongside Mulani. Contributions from Abdul Samad (30) and Sindhu (44) meant that North Zone were bowled out for 222, setting their opponents a target of 287.
After losing both openers cheaply, a 111-run stand between Musheer (96) and captain Ruturaj Gaikwad (66) raised West Zone hopes on the third day. However, a mishap saw the partnership end with Gaikwad being run-out. West Zone lost their way thereafter, eventually losing their remaining seven wickets for just 39 runs. Mushtaq finished with nine wickets in the match after adding four wickets in the second innings.
