South Korean developer Pearl Abyss has officially rewritten the rulebook for single-player games. The studio revealed that its open-world action-adventure game, Crimson Desert, has sold over 6 million units globally in just 83 days since its simultaneous launch on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on March 19, 2026. This staggering milestone shatters expectations, establishing the title as the fastest-selling Korean single-player game of all time and marking a massive turning point for the region’s game industry.

The sales momentum for the new intellectual property has been relentless right out of the gate. Crimson Desert moved an incredible 2M copies on its launch day alone and exceeded the 5M mark within a month, ultimately hitting 6M in under three months. Console players drove the massive initial sales spike, while PC players showed up in force on Steam, tracking a peak of 276,261 concurrent players shortly after release.

The multi-platform, day-one launch strategy proved crucial in capturing the Western market, with North American and European players accounting for over 80% of the game's total sales. In fact, recent data from U.S. market research firm Circana showed Crimson Desert ranked as the number two best-selling video game of 2026 so far in the United States.

Jin-young Heo, CEO of Pearl Abyss, addressed the unprecedented sales achievement in a statement today. He noted that the team is sincerely grateful to players around the world for helping Crimson Desert achieve meaningful success in the global market despite being a new IP. He further added that to provide more enjoyable and better experiences, Pearl Abyss will continue moving forward and taking on new challenges.
