The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on Monday launched raids at the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission office as part of its investigation into alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations.

Job aspirants have been protesting for 24 days now against alleged irregularities in various recruitment examinations in Jharkhand.

"We are conducting raids at the JSSC office in connection with alleged irregularities in various examinations," CID ADG Manoj Kaushik told PTI.

The protesting students have been demanding cancellation of the JSSC-CGL exam conducted in September 2024, claiming that “out of 135 questions, 120 were leaked”.

The agitators also seek comprehensive reforms in the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) and the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC), and a CBI probe into the alleged irregularities.

The state probe agency has arrested 20 people in connection with alleged recruitment exam ‘anomalies’, including former JPSC Chairman L Khiangte.

Khiangte was appointed as JPSC chairman in February last year after he retired as the state's chief secretary.

He was arrested on August 10, a day after all three JPSC members resigned amid massive protests by aspirants over the alleged irregularities in recruitment tests conducted by the agency.
