casio brings health tracking to its ring watch series
After miniaturizing its digital watches into finger-sized accessories, Casio expands the concept with its first smart ring. The CRW-H001 builds on the company’s recent series of functional ring watches by integrating health monitoring, activity tracking, and smartphone notifications into a full-metal wearable. Available exclusively in China, the device marks a shift from novelty timepiece to connected wearable, reflecting the growing convergence of watches, jewelry, and personal health technology.
Unlike Casio’s earlier ring watches, which faithfully reproduced the functions of miniature digital watches, the CRW-H001 introduces biometric sensing alongside digital timekeeping. The ring records daily steps, calorie expenditure, and activities including walking, running, and cycling, while also monitoring heart rate, blood oxygen levels, body temperature, sleep, and workout recovery.

miniaturizing smartwatch technology into a full-metal ring
Compressing smartwatch functions into a ring-sized form required the company to rethink construction and manufacturing. Casio uses metal injection molding (MIM) to reproduce the complex geometry of its watch cases at a much smaller scale, creating a one-piece metal body that retains the visual language of its digital watches. A vapor-deposited mirror finish gives the engraved lettering a metallic sheen, while miniature electronic components allow the ring to combine a digital display with integrated sensors.
The CRW-H001 also functions as an extension of a connected smartphone. A low-power vibration motor delivers discreet alerts for incoming calls, messages, alarms, and selected health notifications, replacing the glance at a wristwatch with subtle haptic feedback on the finger.

The release represents another step in Casio’s evolving approach to wearable devices. While the company’s previous ring watches celebrated its watchmaking heritage by shrinking classic digital models to one-tenth their original size, the CRW-H001 positions the ring as a practical everyday wearable. The miniature watch enters a rapidly expanding category of smart rings that prioritize discreet health tracking over the larger screens of smartwatches.
The ring connects through Casio’s companion smartphone app and supports iOS, Android, and selected HarmonyOS devices, although some notification functions remain unavailable on newer HarmonyOS versions. It is offered in three fixed sizes—9, 10, and 11—and is currently sold exclusively in China, where after-sales service is also limited.
