1 / 7 Over the years, several Bollywood actors have been linked and have talked about Dawood Ibrahim. Late actor Rishi Kapoor is no different. In his autobiography Khullam Khulla, Rishi Kapoor also openly acknowledged that he had met terrorist Dawood Ibrahim on two occasions in Dubai. The actor said he chose not to hide the encounters because they happened before the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts. Kapoor maintained that at the time he did not view Dawood as an “enemy of the state” and therefore saw nothing unusual in accepting the invitation.
2 / 7 According to the book, Kapoor had travelled to Dubai in 1988 with his friend Bittu Anand for an event featuring Asha Bhosle and R D Burman. Soon after landing, a stranger approached him at the airport and handed him a telephone. Kapoor recalled being told, “Dawood sa’ab baat karenge.” The gangster personally invited him for tea. Kapoor admitted that he was surprised by the invitation but eventually agreed to meet him.

3 / 7 Rishi Kapoor wrote that he was driven to an undisclosed location where Dawood received him personally. “We were taken in a shimmering Rolls Royce and driven around in circles so that we couldn’t recognise the route,” Rishi had recalled. The actor claimed they spent more than four hours together over tea. “He served us tea and biscuits. He didn’t drink or serve alcohol,” he had written.
4 / 7 Recalling the meeting, Kapoor wrote that Dawood greeted him warmly and said, “If you need anything at all, any money, anything, just feel free to ask me.” Kapoor described the atmosphere as cordial and said the gangster appeared eager to host him rather than intimidate him.

5 / 7 Kapoor also revealed that he unexpectedly crossed paths with Dawood again in 1989 while shopping for shoes in Dubai with his wife, Neetu Kapoor. He recalled that Dawood entered the store accompanied by around eight to ten bodyguards. Unlike the first planned meeting, this one was accidental. Kapoor wrote that the gangster immediately recognised him and struck up a conversation in a friendly manner.
6 / 7 Describing the second meeting, Kapoor said Dawood offered to purchase anything he wished to buy from the store. However, the actor declined. In the book, Kapoor also recounted a conversation in which Dawood claimed he would not receive justice in India and alleged that he had influence over several politicians. Kapoor said he distanced himself from such discussions, telling him, “Please leave me out of all this, yaar. I am an actor.”
