BMW Motorrad India launched the country’s most affordable twin-cylinder ADV tourer in the country in the form of F 450 GS. It has stirred a lot of interests among enthusiasts as the prospect of owning a baby twin-cylinder GS motorcycle is quite strong. The launch price of Rs 4.7 lakh for base ‘Base’ variant was attractive too.
The launch happened on April 23rd and bookings for this ADV motorcycle had commenced just before the launch. Within under two months of its launch in India, bookings for F 450 GS seems to have stopped temporarily.
BMW F 450 GS Bookings Closed
As per a few BMW Motorrad dealers in the country, bookings for F 450 GS have been temporarily halted. Not because the bike did not find buyers or garner interests among enthusiasts, but the opposite. Dealerships seems to have stopped taking bookings for F 450 GS because of the lack of inventory.
The first batch of BMW F 450 GS allocations are said to have been booked or spoken for. Second batch is expected to be dispatched to dealerships after July 2026 and then the bookings might restart as usual. This now introduces a waiting period of around 3 to 4 months for booked customers of F 450 GS or prospective buyers.
It has to be noted that BMW Motorrad India has not officially confirmed these developments and are divulged by dealer sources. The bookings temporarily halted is not for any particular variant, which suggests that demand is across all the variants. There is a possibility that buyers may have locked into available variants in the first allocation cycle instead of their preferred one to avoid waiting period.
The top-spec Trophy variant with ERC (Easy Ride Clutch) seems to be having the highest demand, which is not surprising. Buyers eyeing for this Trophy variant might have to wait for longer as the second allocation cycle for this variant might be around September, while base ‘Base’ and mid ‘Exclusive’ variant allocations are expected to happen sooner.
Easy Ride Clutch
ERC (Easy Ride Clutch) is a headline figure of F 450 GS and has sparked interests among enthusiasts seeking for easy everyday rideability. It allows for manual gear shifts like a regular gearbox as well. It has to be noted that only the top-spec Trophy variant gets adjustable suspension too, making it another reason to max-out.
All three variants come equipped with the same 6.5-inch TFT instrument cluster along with all-LED lighting, off-road pegs and the 420cc parallel-twin liquid cooled engine. This engine is capable of putting out 48 bhp of peak power and peak torque, mated to a 6-speed gearbox with an option for a normal clutch or a centrifugal clutch with ERC.
