The BJP leadership has expressed unhappiness over three of its Delhi MPs paying homage to the late Congress leader Sajjan Kumar, who was serving a jail term for his involvement in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Mr. Phoolka said on social media that the MPs visited Mr. Kumar’s house when the BJP had always supported the quest for justice for the victims.
He later thanked Mr. Nabin for reprimanding the MPs.

Ms. Sehrawat, Mr. Bidhuri and Mr. Chandolia have also not commented on their visit to Mr. Kumar’s house or the meeting with the party president.

BJP president Nitin Nabin summoned Kamaljeet Sehrawat, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri and Yogender Chandolia on Saturday and conveyed his displeasure, stating that the party does not approve of their visit to Mr. Kumar’s residence to offer condolences.
Their visit became controversial after H.S. Phoolka, the lawyer for the riot victims, openly condemned it.
Mr. Phoolka said on social media that the MPs visited Mr. Kumar’s house when the BJP had always supported the quest for justice for the victims. “Sympathy should be reserved for victims and their families — many of whom live the horror of those days even till now,” he said, calling for a boycott of the three MPs.
He later thanked Mr. Nabin for reprimanding the MPs. “This is what leadership should look like, as opposed to the hypocrisy of the Congress all these years. Grateful to Nitin Nabin for taking a strong stance on the issue,” Mr. Phoolka added.
BJP’s national spokesperson R.P. Singh also condemned the action of the MPs.
The BJP, however, has not made an official statement regarding the meeting. Ms. Sehrawat, Mr. Bidhuri and Mr. Chandolia have also not commented on their visit to Mr. Kumar’s house or the meeting with the party president.
