Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have marched into the semifinals of the Asian Games 2026 after both their respective quarterfinals were washed out due to inclement weather on Tuesday (September 29).
Bangladesh were due to take on Malaysia in the fourth quarterfinal at the Korogi Sports Park in Nisshin in the afternoon fixture but incessant rain since morning forced the officials to call off the game without toss.
Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka's last-eight game against Nepal met with a similar fate.
As the higher-placed sides in the ICC rankings, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh progressed to the semifinals without taking the field.
Nepal and Malaysia have been knocked out.
