‘Awarapan 2’ teaser: Emraan Hashmi is back as the heartbroken lover in romantic-thriller

The teaser of Emraan Hashmi’s upcoming romantic-thriller, Awarapan 2 was unveiled by the makers on Monday (June 29, 2026). Directed by Nitin Kakkar, the film also stars Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in pivotal roles. The teaser opens with Emraan’s character, Shivam, riding a bike in picturesque locations. A man haunted by grief and loss, searching for a purpose for his life.”Produced by Vishesh Bhatt, Awarapan 2 will be released in theatres on August 14. The film is notable for Emraan’s emotive performance and an electrifying soundtrack, composed by Pritam, comprising of hits like, ‘Toh Phir Aao’, ‘Tera Mera Rishta’ and ‘Maula Maula’ among others.

The teaser opens with Emraan’s character, Shivam, riding a bike in picturesque locations. He is seen walking to the grave of Aaliyah, the girl he saved from sex trafficking in the first part, who eventually died. Even Shivam had died at the end of first part. Addressing his death, he says in the teaser, “Death is strange. It touched me, but didn’t choose me.” In another sequence, he is brawling with a biggie. After knocking him down, Shivam says, “I have an old relationship with pain.”

There is a brief glimpse at Shabana and Disha’s characters as the teaser shows some sleek action-packed visuals and ends with a punchy line from Shivam where he says, “Is baar, yaa to ye awarapan khatam hoga, ya main (This time, either this state of being a vagabond will end or me).”

Sharing the teaser, the makers wrote, “19 years later, Shivam is back. A man haunted by grief and loss, searching for a purpose for his life.”

Produced by Vishesh Bhatt, Awarapan 2 will be released in theatres on August 14.

The original, directed by Mohit Suri, and also starring Shriya Saran, Ashutosh Rana and Purab Kohli besides Emraan, came out in 2007 and attained a cult status over the years for its intense romantic themes. The film is notable for Emraan’s emotive performance and an electrifying soundtrack, composed by Pritam, comprising of hits like, ‘Toh Phir Aao’, ‘Tera Mera Rishta’ and ‘Maula Maula’ among others.
