Avengers Endgame: Encore Receives Its First Official Trailer (UPDATED)

UPDATE: Marvel Studios has released another official trailer for Avengers Endgame: Encore to celebrate tickets for the event going on sale. You can find the new trailer below.

The first teaser trailer for Avengers: Endgame Encore was released. The MCU is arguably in its most exciting place in the last seven years, having just released Spider-Man: Brand New Day, preparing to premiere VisionQuest on October 14, getting ready for Avengers: Doomsday on December 18, and being just weeks out from re-releasing Avengers: Endgame, complete with a brand-new logo.

Marvel Studios released the first-ever trailer for Avengers: Endgame Encore, one month out from its return to theaters on September 25. The trailer honored Endgame with moments from its climactic battle in the ruins of the Avengers Compound that were too spoilery to reveal before its 2019 release, like the Portals scene, Steve Rogers wielding Mjolnir against Thanos, and Tony Stark's sacrifice.

For the most part, Endgame Encore will be a rare opportunity to relive one of the most infamous theatrical experiences in history before Doomsday, all while gaining an understanding of what Disney's new Infinity Vision certification is.

The Avengers re-release is coming with an inflated, record-breaking runtime, enhancing the beloved experience with four minutes of new footage that better sets the stage for Doomsday.

Contrary to popular belief, Infinity Vision is not an IMAX replacement that Disney cooked up after Dune: Part 3 beat Doomsday to the punch by securing three-week exclusivity on premium screens. Instead, Infinity Vision is a unique certification that movie screens can receive to declare that they meet high technical standards for size, picture quality, brightness, and sound.

Endgame Encore, followed just three months later by Doomsday, will be the first movie released under this unique Disney-created Infinity Vision certification. The trailer heavily touted the benefits of Infinity Vision with its screens' "maximum scale, superior clarity, [and] immersive sound."

Tickets for Endgame Encore are expected to go on sale on Tuesday, August 25, one month before it hits theaters and changes the MCU forever, while kicking the final stretch of the road to Doomsday into first gear.

Doomsday has been experimenting with theater-exclusive content since the beginning of its promotional run, kicking off its marketing with four teaser trailers that were attached to Avatar: Fire & Ash.

It appears that this proved to be a success as Endgame Encore will continue this trend. The question now remains: what will the new footage contain?

UPDATE: Marvel Studios released another official trailer hyping up Avengers: Endgame's re-release. It does not contain any of the 4 minutes of new footage that will be present in the movie, but does include some audience reactions from the original release of Endgame!

What To Expect From the Avengers: Endgame Encore Re-Release

Avengers: Endgame Encore doesn't truly need a trailer, since it is a three-year-old movie that every Marvel fan on the planet has likely already seen. After all, the only question going into the re-release is what new footage has been added to set the age and how it will build anticipation for the MCU's next blockbuster.

As Marvel Studios is seemingly adding only four minutes to Endgame, it stands to reason that neither the new footage nor any specific details about what it entails will be served up before September 25. There is a chance that anything new of significance will be replayed during Doomsday itself to ensure that the re-release of a seven-year-old movie doesn't join Avengers 5's required viewing list.

Marvel Studios may leave Endgame's original 3 hours, 1 minute runtime untouched, only adding a scene after the credits where there was once nothing. The stinger could neatly bridge the gap between the Infinity and Multiverse Sagas, effectively envisioning what Endgame's post-credits scene would be if it had one and Doomsday was always next for the MCU.

It's easy to imagine Marvel Studios teasing how Doomsday ties back to Endgame's Time Heist or maybe the events that open the door for Chris Evans to return as Steve Rogers despite his peaceful family retirement. Endgame ends on the events that would eventually lead to Doomsday's first-ever teaser trailer, so it would make sense to flesh out some of that time period ahead of Steve's return.

The new footage could even give an extended look at the Thunderbolts' post-credits scene, expanding it to show the first interactions between the Fantastic Four and the 616 universe. As the box office was softer on those two flicks, this could be a chance to better showcase these newer heroes to audiences who may have missed out on their individual films.

Regardless, it would be surprising if the new footage didn't feature Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom in some capacity, offering a taste of the performance that will define Doomsday. An altered version of Fantastic Four: First Steps' post-credits scene could be the optimal way to do that, showcasing how Victor relates to Marvel's First Family in the MCU.
