Hyderabad: A retired Army jawan died on the spot after a speeding Mahindra SUV allegedly travelling on the wrong side of the road hit him at Hydershakote near Narsingi on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Ravinder, and his body was shifted to Osmania Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
According to reports, the SUV, allegedly driven by a youth under the influence of alcohol, first hit Ravinder and then rammed into four pedestrians walking along the road.
It is learnt that five youths were travelling in the SUV at the time of the accident.
Police reportedly identified the SUV as belonging to Babu Goud, a resident of the Shamshabad Airport area, and found alcohol bottles inside the vehicle.

It is learnt that five youths were travelling in the SUV at the time of the accident. Following the incident, they reportedly fled the scene.
Narsingi Police registered a case and launched an investigation. Police reportedly identified the SUV as belonging to Babu Goud, a resident of the Shamshabad Airport area, and found alcohol bottles inside the vehicle. Police are collecting CCTV footage, and further investigation is underway.
