Archana Puran Singh Defends Samay Raina’s Jokes On Her Family

Archana Puran Singh has addressed the discussion around Samay Raina’s jokes about her family during her appearance on India’s Got Latent. While some viewers felt that the comedian’s comments crossed a line, Archana and her family have said they did not take the remarks personally. Archana spoke about the episode in a video shared on her son Aaryamann Sethi’s YouTube channel, Aary Vlogs. She was joined by Aaryamann and her husband, actor Parmeet Sethi.

Archana Puran Singh’s Son Aryamann Defends Samay Raina’s Jokes

Aaryamann, who was sitting in the audience during the episode, said he usually does not comment on such matters but felt the need to address the reactions this time. He explained that he found the joke funny and was not offended by it. According to Aaryamann, Samay’s comments were not intended as a personal attack on him or the family.

“I usually don’t say something about all this but I thought we should say something this time just because I feel like… it’s very funny. I mean, the joke was also funny because, to be fair, when we vlog, we are at home only, so that’s not wrong and my mother also does laugh for a living. First of all, let’s just point this out- it’s a joke. And it’s okay. He did not mean to hurt me or anyone in my family," said Aryamann.

During the episode, Samay had joked about her husband Parmeet Sethi and their sons, saying they don’t do any work.

Archana Puran Singh Says She Knew What To Expect

Archana Puran Singh said she was aware of the kind of comedy associated with India’s Got Latent before agreeing to appear on the show. She explained that she did not view the jokes as an attempt to insult her or her family. She also drew a comparison with her equation with comedian Kapil Sharma. Archana pointed out that Kapil frequently jokes about her on his show, but she understands that the humour comes from a place of familiarity and is not intended to hurt her. ““I didn’t personally get offended by anything," she said.

Aryamann said that Archana and Samay speak twice a day, and he also shares a good bond with him. “Our relationship is fine and obviously, he is not trying to insult or hurt us. I understand when people say that a line was crossed but honestly, when the person who is the subject and the one who is making the joke… they don’t have a problem, then I don’t think it’s so important for everyone else to get upset. People watching comedy have become too sensitive. It’s a joke," said Aryamann.

‘No Regrets About Latent’, Says Archana Puran Singh

Archana also addressed those who had been upset on her family’s behalf. She asked viewers not to feel bad or offended for them, explaining that she had appeared on the show knowing its format and the kind of humour involved.

She maintained that the remarks should be seen in the context of comedy rather than as an actual insult. “He just wanted to create that one moment of laughter for everybody. For me, that was the intent of that punch. I have no regret about Latent," she said.

Archana Puran Singh And Parmeet Sethi React To Sunil Pal’s Video

Parmeet Sethi questioned why some of their industry colleagues felt the need to step in and defend the family. Archana also mentioned comedian Sunil Pal, who had shared a video questioning her decision to appear on India’s Got Latent.

Meanwhile, Parmeet slammed Sunil Pal and questioned why he chose to work with Samay in an ad. “Tune itni gaaliyan khaa ke uske saath ad kyu kiya?" he asked.

What Did Samay Raina Say About Archana’s Family?

During the episode, Samay directed several jokes towards Archana’s family, including comments about Aaryamann and his brother Ayushmaan being unemployed.

Referring to Archana’s family vlogs, Samay joked, “Toh aapke vlogs mein maine dekha hai, na aapka pati kaam karta hai, na aapke do nalle bete kaam karte hain. Yahin baithe hain." Archana immediately pointed at her sons and replied, “Maine bola tha pehle front row mein mat baithna. This is not how you get fame. This is how you get beizzati."

Samay then took the joke further, asking about Archana’s family and saying, “Aapke papa toh kuch bhi nahi karte, right? So it’s just, inke ghar mein reverse patriarchy chal raha hai. Only the woman is working."
