Apple’s iCloud+ subscriptions in India will be bundled with Apple Music ‘Select’

India is among the 100 countries where Apple’s iCloud+ subscribers will now get access to Apple TV, Apple Arcade’s catalogue of over 200 games, and Apple Music Select. The last of those is “a collection of ad-free stations programmed by Apple Music for lean-back listening, offering a wide range of regionally relevant music to enjoy, as well as Top Songs, 80s, 90s, and more”. In other words, it’s a radio version of Apple Music, not the full service. However, iCloud+ subscribers will be able to purchase Apple Music’s individual and family plans at the discounted rates of Rs115/approx. In contrast, Apple One plans, which bundle together iCloud+, Apple TV, Apple Arcade and Apple Music, start at Rs195/approx.

However, iCloud+ subscribers will be able to purchase Apple Music’s individual and family plans at the discounted rates of Rs115/approx. $1.20 (instead of Rs139/approx. $1.45) and Rs145/approx. $1.50 (instead of Rs229/approx. $2.40) per month respectively. “For users accessing iCloud+ through family sharing, the [reduced] monthly price is available to the user who pays for the iCloud+ subscription,” says the press release.

Currently, iCloud+ subscriptions, which can be shared with up to five family members, start at Rs75/approx. 80c per month for 50GB of storage. In contrast, Apple One plans, which bundle together iCloud+, Apple TV, Apple Arcade and Apple Music, start at Rs195/approx. $2.05, per month for 50GB.

This means that a customer who opts for the cheapest iCloud+ subscription will save a grand total of Rs5 by purchasing the individual Apple Music plan (Rs75 + Rs115) instead of the Apple One bundle, which Apple has announced will not be available to new subscribers but will remain accessible to existing users.
