Apple has increased the prices of its Apple Music subscriptions in India, raising monthly costs across its Student, Individual and Family plans as higher music licensing expenses continue to reshape the economics of streaming.
Apple has also revised pricing for its Apple One subscription bundles.
The entry-level Apple One Individual plan now costs Rs 195 per month, up from Rs 175, with higher-tier Apple One bundles also becoming more expensive.
In late 2024, Apple raised the price of its Individual plan from Rs 99 to Rs 119 per month.
Despite the higher subscription fees, Apple Music continues to offer its existing features, including ad-free listening, offline downloads, Spatial Audio, Lossless Audio and access to a catalogue of more than 100 million songs.
MUMBAI: The music hasn’t stopped but it will now cost a little more to keep it playing. Apple has increased the prices of its Apple Music subscriptions in India, raising monthly costs across its Student, Individual and Family plans as higher music licensing expenses continue to reshape the economics of streaming.
Under the revised pricing, the Student plan now costs Rs 69 per month, up from Rs 59, while the Individual plan has increased from Rs 119 to Rs 139 a month. The Family plan, which supports up to six members, now costs Rs 229 per month, compared with Rs 179 previously.
Apple has also revised pricing for its Apple One subscription bundles. The entry-level Apple One Individual plan now costs Rs 195 per month, up from Rs 175, with higher-tier Apple One bundles also becoming more expensive.
The company attributed the increase to rising music licensing costs, describing it as part of a broader global pricing update affecting markets including the United States, the United Kingdom and Europe. Apple has not announced any new features or additional benefits alongside the revised pricing.
The changes mark Apple Music’s first global price increase since 2022 and the second price hike in India in less than two years. In late 2024, Apple raised the price of its Individual plan from Rs 99 to Rs 119 per month.
The pricing revisions also extend to the US market, where the Individual Apple Music plan now costs $11.99 per month, the Family plan has increased to $19.99, and the Student plan now costs $6.99 a month.
Despite the higher subscription fees, Apple Music continues to offer its existing features, including ad-free listening, offline downloads, Spatial Audio, Lossless Audio and access to a catalogue of more than 100 million songs. In eligible markets, student subscribers will also continue to receive Apple TV+ as part of their subscription.
The latest revision comes as streaming platforms worldwide grapple with rising content and licensing costs, prompting many to pass those increases on to subscribers. For Indian consumers, it also adds to the growing phenomenon of “streamflation”, where the cumulative cost of digital entertainment subscriptions continues to climb even as competition across the streaming market intensifies.
