Like in other parts of the world, Apple Music has increased its prices in India.
The monthly rate of an individual subscription has risen from Rs99 (approx.
70c) for students — while that of a family plan, which can be shared by up to five people, has gone up from Rs149 (approx.
20c) for the first three months for new individual subscribers, and Rs39 (approx.
40c) for the first three months for new purchasers of the family pack.
Like in other parts of the world, Apple Music has increased its prices in India. The monthly rate of an individual subscription has risen from Rs99 (approx. $1) to Rs139 (approx. $1.45) — and from Rs59 (approx. 60c) to Rs69 (approx. 70c) for students — while that of a family plan, which can be shared by up to five people, has gone up from Rs149 (approx. $1.55) to Rs229 (approx. $2.35).
While Apple did not issue a press release announcing the hikes, it shared with Music Ally the official statement explaining the reason for the climb: “As a result of rising Iicensing costs, Apple Music is increasing its subscription price.”
As with most such price changes by DSPs, the revisions have been accompanied by limited-time offers: Rs19 (approx. 20c) for the first three months for new individual subscribers, and Rs39 (approx. 40c) for the first three months for new purchasers of the family pack.
