Apple Mac mini M6 and Mac Studio M5 Ultra are now on sale in India. Check their prices, specifications, AI features, memory options and key differences.

Both desktop models also ship with macOS 27, bringing new Apple Intelligence capabilities and AI-powered Siri features.

Apple’s latest Mac mini and Mac Studio desktops are now available to buy in India. The new Mac mini is powered by Apple’s M6 chip, while users looking for more performance can opt for the M5 Pro variant. The Mac Studio, meanwhile, is available with the M5 Max and the new M5 Ultra processors.

The new desktops are available through Apple Stores, Apple’s India website and the Apple Store app. This generation also puts a major focus on artificial intelligence, with Apple adding dedicated Neural Accelerators to every GPU core across the new chips.

Both desktop models also ship with macOS 27, bringing new Apple Intelligence capabilities and AI-powered Siri features. Apple claims the M6-powered Mac mini can deliver up to four times faster AI performance, twice the graphics performance and up to 40 per cent faster CPU performance compared with the previous generation.

Mac Mini M6 Price In India

The new Mac mini starts at Rs 99,900 in India for the M6 model. The more powerful Mac mini with M5 Pro starts at Rs 2,09,900.

For buyers eligible for Apple’s education pricing, the M6 Mac mini starts at Rs 88,900, while the M5 Pro version is priced from Rs 1,97,900.

The Mac Studio sits at a significantly higher price point. The M5 Max model starts at Rs 2,79,900, while the M5 Ultra variant starts at Rs 6,29,900. Education pricing brings the starting prices down to Rs 2,56,900 and Rs 5,84,900, respectively.

Apple will also offer a 512GB storage configuration for the Mac Studio, although that version is expected to arrive in India towards the end of October.

Mac Mini M6 Specifications And Features

The standard Mac mini is powered by Apple’s new M6 chip. It features a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, along with a new Dual 16-core Neural Engine designed to handle AI workloads more efficiently.

The base configuration comes with 16GB of unified memory, with customers able to configure the machine with up to 32GB. Memory bandwidth can reach up to 170GB/s.

Apple says the M6 delivers class-leading single-threaded CPU performance, while the additional Neural Engine hardware is designed to accelerate on-device AI tasks without relying entirely on cloud processing.

Users who need more processing power can choose the Mac mini with M5 Pro. This configuration can be equipped with up to an 18-core CPU, 20-core GPU and 64GB of unified memory.

Connectivity is also similar across the two versions, with support for Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and 2.5Gb Ethernet. Buyers can also configure the machines with 10Gb Ethernet.

Mac Studio M5 Max And M5 Ultra Specifications

The Mac Studio is designed for users who need substantially more processing power than the Mac mini. It is available with Apple’s M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips.

The M5 Max configuration features an 18-core CPU and can be configured with up to a 40-core GPU and 128GB of unified memory.

The M5 Ultra takes things considerably further. It offers up to 36 CPU cores, 80 GPU cores and 512GB of unified memory. Memory bandwidth can reach up to an enormous 1.2TB/s.

That level of hardware is aimed at demanding professional workloads, including 8K colour grading, visual effects production, complex rendering and running large language models locally.

Mac Studio Is Built For Local AI Workloads

AI is one of the biggest changes in Apple’s latest desktop lineup. Every GPU core in the new chips includes its own Neural Accelerator, allowing the machines to dedicate more hardware resources to AI-related workloads.

The M5 Ultra’s combination of CPU, GPU and unified memory is particularly suited to running large AI models locally. With up to 512GB of memory, the Mac Studio can handle workloads that would be difficult to run on more conventional desktop configurations.

Apple is also using Thunderbolt 5 to expand the Mac Studio’s capabilities. The connectivity standard supports speeds of up to 120Gb/s.

Multiple Mac Studios Can Be Used Together For AI

Apple is also positioning the Mac Studio as a machine that can be scaled beyond a single desktop. With RDMA support over Thunderbolt 5, multiple Mac Studio systems can be connected and used together for distributed AI workloads.

Apple says a cluster of Mac Studio machines can deliver up to three times faster distributed AI inference compared with running the workload on a single system.

The Mac Studio can also support up to eight external displays, making it suitable for professional video editing, 3D work, development and other workflows where multiple screens are useful.
