Apple Music just got more expensive. Days after quietly raising Apple Care+ charges for Macs and iPads, Apple has bumped up prices for Apple Music and select Apple One bundles— across India, the US, the UK, Europe and a handful of other markets. The new rates are already live. The company's explanation is short and familiar: rising music licensing costs. It's the first Apple Music price hike in nearly four years globally — the last one landed in October 2022—and it's only the second time India has seen an increase, after the ₹99-to-₹119 bump in late 2024. It arrives right in the middle of what analysts have started calling "streamflation," the steady drip of price increases touching almost every major service. In India, the individual Apple Music plan now costs ₹139 a month, while the family plan, which covers up to six people, moves to ₹229. The student plan sits at ₹69 a month, and Apple One bundles now start at ₹195. In the US, the individual plan climbs a dollar to $11.99, the family plan jumps to $19.99 from $16.99, and the student tier moves to $6.99 from $5.99. US Apple One family and Premier plans also went up, though the individual tier held at $19.95.Even after the increase, Apple still undercuts its biggest rival. Spotify raised its US Premium plan to $12.99 earlier this year, so Apple Music stays the cheaper pick. YouTube Music, which nudged its individual plan up in April, now sits level with Apple. In India, YouTube Music remains the most affordable among the mainstream platforms.Apple hasn't said whether the extra rupees actually reach artists—a question a few subscribers were quick to raise.
