Amitabh Bachchan has been expanding his real estate portfolio in Ayodhya since purchasing a plot in The Sarayu project ahead of the Ram Mandir inauguration in January 2024. Recently, Abhinandan Lodha, founder and CMD of The House of Abhinandan Lodha, opened up about his conversation with the veteran actor and revealed how Bachchan personally contacted him to buy land in the temple town.

Amitabh Bachchan On Wanting To Buy Ayodhya Land

Speaking at the Hindustan Times India Next Real Estate Summit 2026, Lodha shared details of his conversation with Big B. He revealed that he was in Australia in 2023 when he received multiple missed calls around 3 am there. A message that followed read, “This is Amitabh Bachchan, please call back when convenient." The developer said he immediately returned the call after seeing the message.

Recalling their conversation, Lodha said Amitabh Bachchan introduced himself and expressed his desire to own property in Ayodhya. “There were a couple of missed calls, followed by a message that read, ‘This is Amitabh Bachchan, please call back when convenient.’ I literally stood up and called him back," he said.

“He told me, ‘Abhinandan ji, main UP se hoon aur mujhe Ayodhya mein land leni hai’ (I am a native of Uttar Pradesh and I want to buy land in the holy town of Ayodhya). I told him, ‘We will do it for you,’" recalled Abhinandan Lodha.

Amitabh Bachchan Transferred Rs 15 Crore The Very Next Day

Amitabh Bachchan first asked about the pricing before deciding to proceed with the purchase. When the developer mentioned that a 15,000 sq ft plot could cost around ₹15 crore, the actor completed the payment the very next day.

“Bachchan first asked him about the price. I replied, ‘How can I talk pricing with you?’ He said he wanted to buy 15,000 sq ft, and I told him it may be around ₹15 crore. The very next day he sent me ₹15 crore," he recalled.

On the professional front, Amitabh Bachchan will next be seen in the sequel to Kalki 2898 AD. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film also stars Prabhas and Kamal Haasan. The first instalment, released in 2024, turned out to be a blockbuster, earning over Rs 1,000 crore worldwide. Big B’s performance as Ashwatthama received widespread praise, and he will reprise the role in the sequel. The makers are yet to announce the film’s release date.
