The next-generation Bajaj Pulsar 125 has been spotted at a dealership, ahead of its official launch on August 12. As expected, this is an all-new motorcycle featuring a contemporary design, a new frame, a monoshock and what appears to be a new engine as well.
Brand-new design
Starting with the design, the new Bajaj Pulsar 125 features a fresh look while still retaining some visual elements that have been characteristic of the Pulsar range of motorcycles. This is evident in the triangular headlight cluster, which looks sharp and aggressive, and has a LED headlight setup with ‘Wolf-eye’ position lights, typical of a Pulsar.
Moving to the fuel tank, it is large and gets a set of sharp, neatly designed tank extensions. The fuel tank also adds to the visual mass of the bike, which, again, is one of the favourite features among Pulsar fans.
In contrast to the front end, the tail section is sleeker, with some nicely executed creases and graphics. The signature Pulsar split LED tail lights are also visible. Bajaj has chosen to offer halogen turn indicators instead of LEDs, which is still pretty much the norm in this segment.
Overall, the styling is recognisable as a Bajaj Pulsar but still looks fresh and modern.
New chassis
Under the new bodywork resides a brand-new frame. It looks like a tubular steel setup, with the engine acting as a stressed member. The frame is suspended by a telescopic fork and a monoshock, which should be preload-adjustable.
The new Pulsar 125 rides on 17-inch alloy wheels, shod with tubeless tyres made by MRF, by the looks of it. Braking duties, meanwhile, are taken care of by a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear. It is hard to tell if the bike gets ABS or an anti-lock braking system.
While it is early to tell, we can expect light and flickable handling from the new Pulsar 125.
A new heart
The pictures suggest that the bike gets a newly developed engine, evident from the shape of the engine casings, the new exhaust header routing and the chunky exhaust pipe. Specifications are under wraps, but expect good in-city rideability, refinement and a decent top-end to keep up with competition.
Fuel efficiency will also be key to the bike’s appeal, and it will be interesting to see what figures it manages in our road tests.

Pricing and competition
The all-new Bajaj Pulsar 125 finds itself in a hotly contested segment that includes rivals such as the TVS Raider, Hero Xtreme 125R, Honda Shine and more. While the bike will have its work cut out, we can expect Bajaj to price it very competitively, at around Rs 80,000 to Rs 85,000, ex-showroom.
