His remarks drew criticism on social media, with several users questioning what he had said. Reacting to the trolling, Sorab later shared a video on his Instagram Stories defending himself. He captioned the video, "Bhai soch samaj ke bolla karo please (Please think before you speak)," and urged people to be careful before reacting or drawing conclusions.

In the video, Sorab said that paparazzi had come to speak to him and that, in such a situation, it was not possible to hear every question clearly. He said he had stated that Sanchita had been calling him for quite some time and that they had spoken even when he was in Siliguri.
The Splitsvilla 16 contestant also said people should not take everything the wrong way, adding that he was neither foolish nor heartless, and asked if people knew how close a friend Sanchita had been to him. As part of his response, he also shared another video on his Instagram Stories showing him surrounded by paparazzi at the time, to provide context to his earlier remarks.
According to police officials, Sanchita Ugale, 22, died by suicide on June 14. She was found dead at her residence in Nalasopara East, Maharashtra. According to reports, her family and local residents rushed her to a nearby hospital after discovering her, where medical officials declared her brought dead. The exact reason behind her death is not known.
