Three people have been arrested by the Bengaluru Cyber Crime Police for allegedly creating and circulating AI-generated images and videos of Kannada actor Rukmini Vasanth on social media.
According to police officials, the accused allegedly used artificial intelligence tools to create morphed visuals of the Kantara: Chapter 1 actor and shared them online with the intention of defaming her and damaging her reputation. Authorities seized three mobile phones during the operation and have launched a detailed investigation into the case.

The arrests come after the 29-year-old actor filed a cybercrime complaint after AI-generated bikini photos linked to her went viral online. She said the circulating visuals were fabricated and not real, and had called for strict action against the misuse of technology.
Reportedly, the accused were subsequently presented before a judicial magistrate and remanded to custody as the probe progresses. Police have reportedly registered a case under relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators are also examining whether additional individuals were involved in the creation and circulation of the doctored content.

In May, Rukmini Vasanth strongly condemned the AI-generated bikini pictures that went viral. She had issued a formal statement and clarified that the widely shared visuals were completely fabricated and had cautioned that she would be pursuing legal action against those responsible.
An AI-deepfake video showed a professional photoshoot setup, depicting a woman stepping into a swimming pool wearing a green bikini. The clips spread quickly across social media, sparking online discussion and leading many users to believe that the footage was authentic.

Following the complaint, she also said that such incidents do not affect only female actors, but many girls and women across the country, even as she noted that AI also has many positives.
Meanwhile, on the work front, the actor, who was last seen in Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: Chapter 1, will next be seen in Toxic alongside Yash and Dragon with Jr NTR.
