“We wanted the floor to resemble terrazzo but without using terrazzo in the conventional sense,” they said.
It was cut into terrazzo-like chips using waterjet technology.
“Since the inlay was done off-site and laid on site later, it demanded a high level of accuracy during production and installation,” they add.

Another unique intervention in the living space was the marble inlay floor — which, to the designers, was perhaps one of the most challenging parts of the project. “We wanted the floor to resemble terrazzo but without using terrazzo in the conventional sense,” they said. “We worked with Lake Placid Quartzite, a very hardy material. It was cut into terrazzo-like chips using waterjet technology. These were then inlaid into marble. So instead of terrazzo poured on site or pre-cast slabs, we created the effect by embedding stone chips into another stone.” This meticulous task entailed having to align the inlay design of three concentric rings to the ceiling above and with the other circular forms in the space. “Since the inlay was done off-site and laid on site later, it demanded a high level of accuracy during production and installation,” they add.
