Pre-Show Arrivals

Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk, Kevin Owens, United States Champion Baron Corbin, Carmelo Hayes, Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton, and Jacy Jayne are shown arriving at the TD Garden.

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis is in the ring and announces that WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green broke her orbital bone last week on SmackDown. After talking with medical, he has reached a decision about her championship reign. Aldis introduces Chelsea Green.

Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green makes her way to the ring. Last week on SmackDown, Green’s orbital socket was broken by Jacy Jayne. Green’s eye is a grotesque shade of purple. Aldis says he knows how hard Green worked to get the title. Aldis says he talked to medical, but he cannot in good conscience let her compete with a broken eye socket. Green starts to get emotional and tells him not to say it. The socket is already getting better. Aldis says he hates this part of his job, but it is his job. Aldis says, “Chelsea, I’m sorry, I need you to relinquish the WWE Women’s Championship.” The crowd loudly boos and chants, “NO!”

Green says she knew it was too good to be true. She knew when she climbed the ladder and took the title down that the other shoe would drop. Every single time something good and magical happens to her in this business, something equally devastating happens. That’s her story. Chelsea Green, the comic relief, the perfect opponent for the other girls. Never the champion. Never the QB1. The crowd chants, “You deserve it!” Green says Aldis knows how much she sacrificed to be here. She’s missed weddings and funerals, broken bones, and left all her blood, sweat, and tears in the ring. She’s put her face through birthday cakes and pies, thrown her body in dumpsters, and had the entire world laugh in her face. But every night when she got into bed, she told herself it was all worth it because this moment would come. Now, here we are. She made it. The crowd cheers for Green.

Green says Aldis should understand that, especially after SummerSlam. Aldis says that’s not the same thing. Green shouts that it is. Aldis went out there as the world applauded him with his wife and son in the ring. Then, she went out there and proved it doesn’t matter what they think about them. What matters is what they think about themselves. Aldis was a champion. His wife was a champion. Until someone takes this off of her, this title is hers! The crowd chants, “YES!” Green gives him the belt and says, “I thought you of all people would understand that.” Green storms off.

Aldis says, “Chelsea, wait!” As Nick Aldis, the GM, he thinks he’s doing the right thing. The crowd boos. As Nick Aldis, the man, he doesn’t give a damn what medical says. Green heads back to the ring. Aldis says he’ll give her 30 days to get cleared and get herself a face mask. She can do whatever she can to defend the title. Until someone takes it from her, this belt is hers. Green hugs him and holds the title up as she gets emotional. The crowd loudly cheers.

“The Ring General” Gunther’s music plays. Gunther has had enough of this soft stuff. It’s time to get down to what matters. Gunther knows Aldis is on a short leash by Hunter, so they’ll settle this professionally. Aldis needs to answer him now. Why did he pull that stunt on him at SummerSlam? Aldis says this isn’t the time or the place. If he wants to discuss it, they can do it like men in his office. Green yells at Gunther. Gunther puts down Green’s accomplishments. Gunther says he pulled double duty at SummerSlam, competing on both nights. On the first night, he made a man (Aldis) tap out in front of his family. Why did Aldis add Kevin Owens to his match? Aldis says he added Gunther to Kevin’s match. They’ve been negotiating Kevin’s return at SummerSlam for months. Gunther is the one Aldis did the favor for. Sorry he couldn’t get the job done. Green laughs at Gunther. Gunther tells Green to do him a favor and shut up. The crowd boos. Green tells him to puff his chest at a woman, have his temper tantrum, and stroke his tiny male ego. That’s all he has after SummerSlam. Green only sees one champion in the ring: her.

Matt Cardona, Green’s husband, runs down and gets in Gunther’s face. Green tries to back him away. Gunther says Cardona is here from catering to make the rescue. What is Cardona going to do to him? Gunther can call his girl every slur in the world, and there’s nothing Cardona can do to him. Green tries to get Cardona to leave the ring. Gunther laughs and says he’s acting like a dog with its owner, so Cardona attacks Gunther and punches him out of the ring. WWE referees run down to break them up.

“The Ring General” Gunther vs. Matt Cardona w/ Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green

We join this match in progress. Gunther and Cardona are wrestling in street clothes. Gunther quickly cuts off a strike combo from Cardona and chops him. Cardona punches away at him in the corner and drives his knee into him. Gunther rolls out of the ring before eating a running boot. Cardona hits a slingshot baseball slide, but Gunther quickly gets the advantage and hits a back suplex on the barricade. Gunther hits Cardona with a Powerbomb on the commentary table, which doesn’t break, before delivering a Powerbomb to the apron. Chelsea Green shouts that Gunther is nothing. Gunther gets in the ring and taunts the crowd. Cardona gets in the ring before being counted out.

Gunther immediately hits a short-arm clothesline and taunts Green. Gunther grabs Cardona and crushes him with a Saito Suplex. Gunther continues to taunt Green, so she gets on the apron. The referee admonishes her. As the referee is distracted, Cardona hits a low blow, followed by a Rough Ryder for a near fall! Gunther immediately cuts Cardona off and hits a pair of Powerbombs, followed by a Boston Crab for the submission.

Winner by Submission: “The Ring General” Gunther

The Irresistible Forces come out. Nia Jax says it’s pathetic that Green isn’t even a week into her title reign and is injured. It sounds like she has a ticking clock. Since Green wants to be a fighting champion, why wait? Jax says she got screwed out of SummerSlam and wants the WWE Women’s Championship. Jax and Lash Legend get into the ring. Jax warns that if she doesn’t get what she wants, she has a history of breaking faces.

Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton runs down to save Green. The Irresistible Forces quickly overwhelm Stratton. Jax hits Stratton with a leg drop. Green can do nothing but watch on.

Replay: Last week on SmackDown, Alexa Bliss came back, along with Tatum Paxley. This helped Charlotte Flair defeat Jade Cargill.

Backstage Segment

Charlotte Flair is walking with Alexa Bliss and says she missed her. Bliss says it was all Tatum Paxley who did the work. Paxley reminds Bliss of herself. Flair loves her, so she’ll be happy with Paxley’s surprise. Flair isn’t excited. They go into their locker room, and Paxley redecorated with a collage. Flair pretends to be happy.

Coming up next, Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton meet.

Backstage Segment

“The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes approaches SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, who is talking with Jason Jordan and Shawn Daivari. Rhodes wants Orton, but Aldis says he hasn’t seen him. Aldis thinks they should do the match at Sunday Night’s Main Event. Sami Zayn walks up and complains that he has to jump through hurdles just to get a rematch for the title, but Rhodes just has to ask. Rhodes cuts him off and says he’s tired of this schtick. Rhodes wants him tonight and storms off. Zayn says his hand is broken, so Aldis presents a sweetener: if Zayn beats Rhodes, he’ll face the winner of CM Punk vs. Kevin Owens for the title. Zayn is speechless.

Carmelo Hayes heads to the ring. He’ll battle for the United States Championship next.

WWE United States Championship

Carmelo Hayes vs. Baron Corbin (c)

Referee: Jason Ayers

As Baron Corbin makes his entrance, Carmelo Hayes takes him out with a somersault senton. Hayes gets Corbin in the ring, and the bell rings to start the match. Hayes dropkicks Corbin and punches him. Corbin throws him to the corner, but Hayes spins him around and chops his chest. Hayes punches away at Corbin until Corbin pushes him off. Hayes rocks him with a step-up enzuigiri, followed by a springboard diving clothesline. 1… Corbin immediately kicks out. Hayes backs up and charges for a strike. Corbin puts the brakes on a whip and sends Hayes to the apron. Hayes knocks him back and comes off the top rope, but Corbin goozles him. Hayes gets away and knocks Corbin out of the ring. Hayes attacks him on the apron and smashes him with a diving leg drop, driving Corbin’s head into the canvas. Hayes soon goes for the First 48, but Corbin counters with a powerbomb before kicking him out of the ring.

Corbin goes outside and drives Hayes into the barricade before smashing his head off the ring post. Corbin sends Hayes into the timekeeper’s area and gets in the ring to taunt the crowd.

-Commercial Break-

Picture-in-Picture Commercial Break: After taking a few moments to gloat, Corbin goes outside and grabs Hayes. Hayes chops him back, but Corbin knees him in the midsection and drives him into the steel steps. Corbin takes exception with the fans before attacking Hayes and getting him into the ring. Corbin beats Hayes down in the corner. Hayes fights back and punches Corbin in the midsection before hitting the ropes, but Corbin drops him with a back elbow for a two-count. Corbin pulls him up and viciously clubs his back. Corbin then beats him down in the corner again.

Back from the break, Corbin pulls Hayes up, but Hayes forearms him in the face several times. Corbin counters a whip and drives Hayes into the corner before clotheslining him down. Corbin scoops Hayes up and goes for a powerslam, but Hayes slides off and drives him into the corner. Hayes sidesteps Corbin and hits him before hitting a springboard DDT for a near fall. Hayes gets the crowd going as he goes to the top rope for a huge frog splash. 1… 2… Corbin kicks out. Hayes gets up and sizes Corbin up for the First 48, but Corbin blocks it again before hitting a big boot. Corbin goes for a powerbomb, but Hayes counters into a roll-up for a two-count. Hayes knees him in the jaw and hits the ropes, but Corbin drops him with the Deep Six for a near fall.

Hayes flips through End of Days and hits the First 48! Hayes hits a second First 48 and heads to the top rope. Corbin quickly gets up and pushes him off the top rope to the floor. Corbin quickly puts Hayes in the ring and hits the End of Days for the win.

Winner by Pinfall and still WWE United States Champion: Baron Corbin

Trick Williams makes his way to the stage as the crowd chants, “Whoop that Trick.” Lil Yachty sneaks up behind Corbin and hits him with the Drip Stick. Corbin doesn’t feel the pain before scaring Yachty away. Williams gets in the ring and hits Corbin with the Trick Shot.

Good match with Baron Corbin and Carmelo Hayes. Corbin dominated throughout, which for me has always been a tough sell for his career. He's got the height but not the bulk that would sell it. Locker Room Segment

Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton is holding her ribs in pain. Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green comes in and thanks Stratton for helping, but she never wanted her to get injured. Stratton says she’s ok and will still fight. Green looks worried.

Coming up next, CM Punk and Kevin Owens meet face-to-face.

Cody Rhodes battles Sami Zayn later tonight.

CM Punk and Kevin Owens meet face-to-face

Kevin Owens makes his way to the ring to a big ovation. For the first time ever, he’ll battle CM Punk for the Undisputed WWE Championship next week on SmackDown. Owens listens to the ovation.

Undisputed WWE Champion CM Punk comes out to an equally big ovation. Punk says he’s not a coward. He’s sure what Owens was going to say pertains to him, so he can give the people what they want. Owens goes to speak, but Punk cuts him off and asks, “Is it great to be alive on a Friday night in Boston, Massachusetts, or what?” Punk asks Owens what he’s waiting for. A “CM Punk” chant picks up. Owens says it’s funny that Punk tells him that he can say whatever he wants to his face, but last week Punk called him a “fat slob” all the way up the aisle. Punk asks if he thinks he won’t say it to his face. Owens says he knows he will

Their story started twenty years ago. They were in the same independent promotion where Punk was the top guy. Punk chose to insult and berate him in the locker room in front of his peers. Punk asks if he’s really been holding onto that for twenty years. Owens says it’s a lot more than that. Owens doesn’t like him for many reasons. The person Punk has been and the things he’s said and done, the way he’s treated people he cares about. Punk asks which ones. Owens says every friend he has in the business hates him. Punk says, “Being hated by losers is the price I pay for not being one of them.” Owens says that’s another perfect example of why he despises Punk. Owens sees it in the locker room, where people look up to Punk. Punk came back and made amends. There’s one guy left who doesn’t like him: Owens. Owens will never like him because everything Punk says is performative. Owens gets in his face and says Punk is a phony. The only reason Punk came back to make everything right is that he had no other choice. The person Punk is made him screw things up everywhere else. Punk had no choice. Owens doesn’t respect people like Punk.

Owens backs up because Punk’s breath is rough. While Punk was gone, Owens was consistently in the ring for twelve years before the injury. Owens main evented everywhere, won titles, was Universal Champion, and main evented WrestleMania against “Stone Cold” Steve Austin. Punk sarcastically claps. Punk says he was happy for Owens then and now. Would Owens have been afforded those opportunities if he were still here? Does Owens think he’d be picked over Punk? Owens says Punk still thinks of him as a fat indy slob, a fan on the wrong side of the guardrail. Owens wants him to just say it. Punk asks if that’s what he thinks or what Owens thinks? Punk is the Undisputed Champion of WWE with a locker room full of guys who want to be champion. Punk called out Oba Femi and got endometriosis instead. Punk sees a tough guy and will not take him lightly in Toronto. Punk also sees a guy wasting his potential. Punk sees a tough guy, but he’s a bum. Owens avoids the hard work. Punk has evolved, adapted, and overcome because he wants to be 1% better than the day before. If Owens did half the work he did, maybe he could have avoided the Bill Goldberg spear that ended his last title reign.

Owens says he spent his career trying not to be Punk. What Owens sees is someone who, despite his accomplishments, goes home and hates what he sees. Owens loves what he sees. That fat indie loser is in the same ring with Punk right now and facing him for the WWE Title next week. Being like Punk wouldn’t have helped. After all, Punk couldn’t avoid that Roman Reigns spear at WrestleMania. Punk says he sees himself from twenty years ago in Owens, but he still sees the same guy he saw then. Owens asks if it bothers Punk that he never sought his advice. Owens has regretted for twenty years not punching him in his mouth in that locker room. Punk says there’s nothing between them now but air and opportunity. Punk challenges him to do it now. Owens says that the reason he didn’t do it then is because he knew Punk would have ended his career. The reason he won’t do it now is that next week, in Toronto, he doesn’t get to punch him in the face. Owens waited twenty years and can wait seven more days. Owens will punch him in the face and beat his “bitch ass” for the WWE Title.

Punk says that twenty years ago, Owens was a greenhorn crying about coming into Punk’s locker room and thought he could speak to him disrespectfully. Owens has been crying about the consequences for twenty years. Owens may not have looked up to him, but he’ll be doing that in Toronto when he puts his “fat ass” to sleep.

General Manager’s Office

SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis is talking with Finn Bálor. Bálor says he was hot, but he understands what happened at SummerSlam. Gunther barges in and isn’t happy that he had to wrestle in street clothes. Aldis says he’s interrupting him and Bálor. Gunther says he sees Bálor’s shadow. Bálor calls him a “condescending prick” and says he’ll show Gunther who the real Finn Bálor is.

WWE Tag Team Champions Damian Priest and R-Truth head to the ring.

WWE Tag Team Championship

Triple Threat Tag Team Match

Damian Priest and R-Truth (c’s) vs. The War Raiders (Erik and Ivar) vs. The MFTs (Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga) w/ Haku

Referee: Ryan Tran

R-Truth, Erik, and Tama Tonga start the match. Talla Tonga, Damian Priest, and Ivar tag in before anything happens. All three teams start to brawl. Erik and Ivar go after the MFTs. The War Raiders pull the MFTs out of the ring and brawl with them at ringside. Priest holds R-Truth’s hand and climbs to the top rope before diving onto the two teams.

-Commercial Break-

Back from the break, and R-Truth sends Tama out of the ring. Priest tags in and kicks Ivar back before attacking Erik. Erik reverses a whip, but Priest shoulder tackles him. Priest hits Ivar with a back elbow before kicking Erik in the head. Priest goes back and forth, attacking the War Raiders. Priest hits Ivar with a flatliner, then tags in R-Truth. Ivar knocks R-Truth back and goes to the second rope, but the WWE Tag Team Champions cut him off. They climb to the second rope. Talla Tonga runs in and chokeslams Priest and R-Truth off the top rope. Ivar then takes Talla out with a cannonball.

Erik and Tama go at it, but The War Raiders hit a double-team Pop-up Powerslam for a near fall. Talla saves Tama from a double-team powerbomb by The War Raiders. Talla hits R-Truth with a powerslam and taunts the crowd as Haku looks on. Ivar and Priest team up to take Talla out with a double-team suplex. R-Truth applies an STF to Talla, but Erik breaks it up. Erik takes it to R-Truth. The War Raiders set up for a double-team Fallout, but Priest breaks it up. Priest kicks away at Erik, but The War Raiders drive him through the barricade with a Pop-up Powerslam!

In the ring, R-Truth avoids an elbow from Tama Tonga. R-Truth hits a pair of shoulder tackles before hitting a back suplex powerbomb! Ron Cena hits the 5 Knuckle Shuffle before going for an Attitude Adjustment. Tama rakes his eyes and sends him into Erik. The MFTs hit the Brother’s Keeper and pin R-Truth!

Winners by Pinfall and new WWE Tag Team Champions: The MFTs

Haku stands tall in the ring with his sons as they celebrate winning the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Nice to see Haku back and managing the new Tag Team Champions, the MFTs. I just hope this team doesn't have to fall into the Bloodline umbrella. Haku's legacy brings a great intensity to this team. Jacy Jayne w/ Fatal Influence (WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Laney Reid and Fallon Henley) vs. Tiffany Stratton (c)

Referee: Daphne LaShaunn

The bell rings, and Jacy Jayne immediately begins attacking Tiffany Stratton’s injured ribs. Stratton fights back and avalanches her against the ropes before hitting a basement dropkick for a two-count. Stratton clotheslines Jayne down, and Jayne rolls out of the ring. Lainey Reid gets on the apron, so Stratton attacks her. Jayne hits a backstabber to take the champion down.

-Commercial Break-

Back from the break, Interim WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green has come down to check on Stratton. Stratton gets in the ring and finally takes Jayne down. Stratton punches her before delivering a pair of clotheslines. Stratton elbows her before floating into an Alabama Slam. Stratton goes to the top rope for a Swanton Bomb. 1… 2… Jayne barely kicks out.

Stratton lifts Jayne, but Jayne slides off and superkicks her. Stratton avoids a kick and rolls her up for a two-count. Stratton hits a handspring stunner, followed by a rolling senton. Stratton goes for the Prettiest Moonsault Ever, but Jayne gets her knees up for a near fall! Jayne goes for a Rolling Encore, but Stratton kicks her down and knees her in the face. Stratton lifts Jayne, but Henley gets on the apron. Green pulls her down and argues with Fatal Influence. Stratton takes Henley and Reid out with a crossbody block to the floor!

Stratton gets in the ring, and Jayne smashes her with the Rolling Encore for the win!

Winner by Pinfall and new Women’s United States Champion: Jacy Jayne

An emotional Jacy Jayne holds up the Women’s United States Championship as fireworks go off.

Just a match with Jacy Jayne and Tiffany Stratton. The story of the match was Stratton's ribs. Nice to see WWE pushing this rookie team, Fatal Influence, hard, as all three women now have titles. WWE has handled them well. #SmackDown — Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) August 15, 2026

Backstage Interview

Cathy Kelley is backstage with Jade Cargill, B-Fab, and Michin. How does Alexa Bliss returning with Tatum Paxley change how Cargill approaches Charlotte Flair? Cargill says all these women can’t stay out of her business. Line them up, and she’ll put them down. B-Fab says they’ll give Paxley a proper welcome to their show. They walk off.

“Wrestling has more than one royal family.”

“The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes makes his way to the ring. He’ll battle Sami Zayn next.

-Commercial Break-

“The American Nightmare” Cody Rhodes vs. Sami Zayn

Referee: Charles Robinson

As Sami Zayn makes his entrance, Randy Orton attacks Cody Rhodes from behind! Orton punches Rhodes and slings him to the apron before hitting a draping DDT. Orton goes for an RKO, but Rhodes counters into a Cross Rhodes attempt. Orton quickly rakes Rhodes’ eyes to get out of it and bounces him off the steel steps. Orton smashes Rhodes in the face with the steel steps, knocking him into the crowd.

Sami Zayn is complaining to referee Charles Robinson about what is happening.

Orton leans the lower half of the ring steps against the commentary table. Orton goes into the crowd to get Rhodes, so Rhodes throws a drink in his face. They begin brawling through the crowd. Rhodes smashes him into a barricade before hitting him on the head with a garbage can. Rhodes punches Orton before whipping him into another barricade. Orton fights back with some kicks and uppercuts. Rhodes has a nasty bruise on his back. Orton punches him back to the ringside area and viciously shoves a stagehand.

Orton puts Rhodes on the commentary table and punches him. WWE officials and referees rush out to help, but they can’t reach Orton. Orton throws Rhodes into the crevice of the steel steps, which are shaped to press it against the ring, and grabs a steel chair. Rhodes quickly low-blows Orton and smashes him on the spine with the steel chair. Rhodes looks into the crowd as Orton lies prone on the steps. Rhodes goes to swing, but Shawn Daivari rips it away from him! Rhodes is restrained, saving Orton’s career. Rhodes breaks free and grabs Orton, but the show fades to black.

Decent brawl with Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton to end the show, which also plays into the storyline of Sami Zayn getting screwed once again since now that title opportunity is up in the air. #SmackDown — Wrestleview.com (@wrestleview) August 15, 2026
