Upcoming SUVs Under Rs 15 Lakh – Renault Bridger

Expected Price – Rs 10 lakh to Rs 18 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

Expected Launch – Late 2027

Renault has (re)launched the Duster and is now planning to launch a new compact SUV in the country. The new model will sit alongside the Kiger in its portfolio but will serve a different purpose. The Renault Bridger, or the mini-Duster, is expected to be a lifestyle SUV having 4×4 capability in the compact SUV segment.

Along with that, the mini-Duster is also expected to deliver a good fuel economy. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre petrol hybrid engine, and it will be a 3-cylinder unit using the Miller cycle to deliver a good efficiency figure. In the latest testing, the model delivered around 30 kmpl. Expect the interior to be similar to that of the Renault Duster, with several features carried over from the model.

Volkswagen Tera

Expected Price – Rs 9 lakh to Rs 15 lakh (on-road, Mumbai)

Expected Launch – Mid 2027

Volkswagen is expected to bring its Kylaq equivalent to India. The VW Tera is already on sale in international markets; however, in Brazil, the model measures approximately 4.1m in length. We expect the Indian-spec model might be kept under 4m in length to gain GST benefits.

The India-bound model will be powered by a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. As Skoda is planning a VRS update for the Kylaq, VW could also bring its GTI badge to the model. Expect the Tera to carry the feature suite from the Kylaq, and as an add-on, the Tera might also feature an ADAS suite.

Hyundai Boxy EV

Expected Price – Rs 11 Lakh to Rs 17 Lakh

Expected Launch – Late 2026

Hyundai is already testing its Boxy EV, hinting that its launch might be some time away. The new electric model will be based on the Hyundai Inster EV sold in international markets. With that, the model is expected to share the global model’s feature list and also boast a boxy design. The India-bound model features pixel-like DRLs and a boxy headlamp unit.

We expect the model to get features like a floating infotainment screen, a digital instrument cluster, ADAS, and other comfort and tech features. That said, this upcoming boxy electric model from Hyundai will likely rival the Tata Punch and will be sold as an electric alternative to the Hyundai Exter.

Upcoming SUVs Under Rs 15 Lakh – Nissan Tekton

Expected Price – Rs 12 lakh to Rs 20 lakh

Expected Launch – July 2026

Nissan is ready with its mid-size SUV, which will be a Duster equivalent in its portfolio. Nissan has already showcased images of the model; it certainly looks like a cut-down Patrol SUV. The Tekton will use the same platform as the Renault Duster, so expect it to include the Duster’s feature suite. Additionally, expect the powertrain options to be similar across both models.

Regarding its launch, Nissan has already announced it will launch the Tekton on 9th July, 2026.

Hyundai Bayon

Expected Price – Rs 12 lakh to Rs 19 lakh

Expected Launch – Early to Mid 2027

Hyundai has laid out its plan to launch 2 new cars by the end of this financial year. One of these is expected to be the Bayon. The Bayon is already on sale in the International market, and it will be brought to India. The Bayon measures 4.1m in length globally, and we expect the India-bound model to be of the same length. It will be positioned between the Venue and Creta in Hyundai’s lineup.

One of the main highlights of the Hyundai Bayon is its CNG option. Expect the model to offer features including A Dual 12.3-inch curved display setup, sunroof and ventilated front seats, Level-2 ADAS is standard, 6 airbags, among others.
