1 / 13 The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a series of weather alerts for large parts of the country, warning of heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds over the next 24 to 72 hours. According to the weather agency, the active southwest monsoon and a cyclonic circulation over northern India are expected to combine, bringing unsettled weather to many regions.
2 / 13 Wind speeds of 60 to 80 kmph are likely in several states, raising the risk of fallen trees, power outages, waterlogging and damage to crops. The IMD has advised farmers, travellers and those working outdoors to remain cautious and monitor local weather updates. While the rain is expected to ease heatwave conditions and reduce temperatures by 2°C to 5°C in many places, severe weather could disrupt normal life across parts of northern, central, eastern and northeastern India.

6 / 13 Western and central Uttar Pradesh are likely to witness significant weather activity. Yellow alerts have been issued for districts including Meerut, Agra, Aligarh, Mathura, Kanpur, Jhansi, Varanasi and Prayagraj. The IMD has warned of thunderstorms and winds reaching 70 to 80 kmph.
