Mahindra Auto has been stepping up its SUV game in the country with their next generation offerings. Based on the multi-energy NU IQ platform, production-spec version of Vision S is expected to launch first, followed by others – Vision X, Vision T, Vision SXT.

There have been multiple test mule sightings of Vision S sub 4m SUV, showing its exteriors and interiors. The recent spy video by torque_bhai account shows interiors of upcoming Vision S. From the looks of it, this particular test mule might be a mid-spec or upper mid-spec variant, showing that there is scope for more equipment on top-spec variants.

Mahindra Vision S Interiors Spied

As seen in these spy shots, Mahindra Vision S seems to be standing in a parking lot and it is still donning the makeshift circular Thar Roxx headlights and not the angular L shaped production-spec headlights which were spied only recently. The main highlight of this spy video is its interiors.

On the inside, we can see the steering wheel from BE 6, which could be a temporary thing or maybe this is an electric version of Vision S. It has to be noted that NU IQ platform on which Vision S will be positioned, has a multi-energy architecture supporting Electric, Petrol, Diesel, Hybrid and maybe even flex fuel. Previous spy shots showed Vision S with an ICE steering.

There is a high-set dashboard with a TFT instrument cluster (could be 12.3-inch) along with a tall and squarish infotainment screen. AC vents are vertically oriented and there seems to be a similar climate control panel as Thar Roxx or Scorpio N. Centre console has a conventional gear selector in this test mule and it had fabric seats and a manual handbrake, suggesting upper mid-spec variant. Handles for ingress and egress like in Thar are notable too.

Toggles for crucial functions are seen on Thar too. Interestingly, there is a knob on the right side of the steering wheel, which was present in concept too. This could be for headlight control like in European cars, suggesting Mahindra could take Vision S global. Tata did something similar with Hexa, but it was discontinued too soon, without a promising revival.

What to expect?

Notable features confirmed by previous spy shots include a panoramic sunroof, independent rear suspension, radar-based Level-2 ADAS, premium interior and many more. Higher variants will get electric parking brake, ventilated seats, powered seats, 360 camera and more. Diesel engine is confirmed by previous spy shots and Petrol, Electric, Hybrid and Flex Fuel are possible too.

In the sub 4m SUV space, Mahindra currently has the monocoque XUV3XO for mainstream audience and Thar 3-Door 1.5 Diesel with ladder frame chassis for lifestyle enthusiasts. Mahindra seems to be planning a major product offensive in the B Segment by bringing the coveted, celebrated and aspirational Scorpio nameplate to this space. The S in Vision S is speculated to indicate Scorpio and it could be called Scorpio Sport.
