Aiming to provide more engaging options to buyers, Suzuki Malaysia has introduced new top-spec variants for multiple models. Along with the Jimny Rhino Edition, Suzuki has also launched a new ‘Sport’ variant for the Fronx. As compared to the base Fronx variant priced at RM118,888 (Rs 27.89 lakh), the Fronx Sport has a price tag of RM130,888 (Rs 30.70 lakh). Fronx is offered in Malaysia at a premium pricing, as it is imported as a CBU from Indonesia.
Suzuki Fronx Sport – What’s new?
Fronx Sport focuses primarily on delivering a more youthful aesthetic with a comprehensive body kit. At the front, key features include a blacked-out finish for the grille and Suzuki logo. Fronx Sport also gets a distinctive front bumper lower lip extension for a more dynamic appearance. Side profile has been enhanced with side skirts and large sized ‘Fronx Sport’ decals.
Buyers also have the option of choosing larger 17-inch alloy wheels. These are wrapped in 215/50R17 Continental UltraContact UC7 tyres. In comparison, the base variant of Fronx uses 16-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in 195/60R16 tyres. At the rear, key features of Fronx Sport include a rear diffuser and tailgate mounted spoiler. Fronx Sport is available in two colour options – a monotone Cool Black shade and a dual-tone Pearl Snow White with Cool Black.
Inside, the new Fronx Sport variant gets a front and rear 4K dashcam. Most other features are the same as the base variant. Key highlights include a leather three-spoke steering wheel with shift paddles, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a tilt and telescopic steering column.
Suzuki Fronx has ADAS features such as blind spot monitor, adaptive cruise control, lane change assist and rear cross traffic alert. Also, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane departure prevention and vehicle sway warning. Standard safety features include six airbags, hill hold, high beam assist, ABS with EBD and brake assist, electronic stability control and ISOFIX anchors.
Same hybrid powertrain
In Malaysia, Suzuki Fronx is offered with only a K15C 1.5 litre inline-four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine. Featuring an integrated starter generator, the engine delivers 103 PS and 138 Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 6-speed automatic transmission. This powertrain is a mild hybrid setup, where the electric motor assists with engine start-stop, acceleration and improving fuel efficiency and overall smoothness. In India, Maruti Fronx is offered with a 1.2-litre petrol and a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine.
Most other hardware specs for the Suzuki Fronx Sport variant are the same as the base variant. The SUV uses MacPherson struts at the front and a torsion beam setup at the rear. Braking setup comprises ventilated discs at the front and drum brakes at the rear. Fronx Sport weighs 1,480 kg (gross vehicle weight), which is the same as the base variant.
