The body of a man from Andhra Pradesh’s Annamayya district was found on the Madanapalle-Tirupati National Highway, with police initially suspecting that he had died in a road accident. However, the investigation later allegedly revealed a murder conspiracy involving the man’s wife and her alleged lover.

According to police, Uma Devi had been married to Mangineni Venkata Subrahmanyam for around 20 years. Investigators allege that she had been in a relationship with Charala Subrahmanyam for nearly two years and considered her husband an obstacle to the relationship.
Police said the two allegedly plotted the murder and later attempted to make it appear as though the victim had died in a road accident.
How Was Murder Allegedly Carried Out?
According to the police investigation, the alleged murder took place on August 7.
Police said Uma Devi allegedly mixed sleeping pills into her husband’s food. After he fell asleep, she and Charala Subrahmanyam allegedly attacked him with an iron rod and a stone, killing him.
The duo allegedly then transported the body on a Honda Activa and dumped it along the Madanapalle-Tirupati National Highway at around 2.30 am on August 8.
Investigators allege that the accused attempted to make the death look like a road accident. They allegedly cleaned blood stains from the scene and disposed of the weapons and blood-stained clothes used in the crime.
How Did Police Uncover the Murder?
The case came to light after the victim’s father, Mangineni Krishnayya, suspected that his son had not died in an accident and raised concerns about the circumstances surrounding his death.
He subsequently lodged a complaint with the Pileru Urban Police, prompting investigators to examine the case more closely.
During the investigation, police allegedly found evidence pointing towards a planned murder rather than a road accident.
Uma Devi and Charala Subrahmanyam were arrested on August 11. Police are continuing their investigation into the case and the circumstances surrounding the alleged conspiracy.
The allegations are based on the police investigation, and further details are expected to emerge as the case proceeds.
